OFW Watch is a community service initiative of Mynd Dynamic Team, Inc. of Davao City, Philippines. Mynd is a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company founded in 2006 by Ms. Myrna Padilla.

As part of the IT-BPO industry, we are committed to creating meaningful employment opportunities here in the Philippines for our people. We believe creating jobs here in the Philippines, not remittances, is the real solution to overcoming poverty.

Did you know the Information Technology and Business Process Outsourcing Industry has created over 600,000 direct jobs? What does 600,000 new jobs in the Philippines mean to you…the OFW?

It means… 600,000 fathers, mothers, sons or daughters who will now stay in the Philippines instead of being ripped from their families and shipped overseas.

It means other fathers and mothers do not have to follow in your footsteps and suffer the pain and anguish of being separated from family and loved ones.

Promote your  country. Promote the Philippines.

 

The IT-BPO industry is organized under the the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP). BPAP represents approximately 250 industry members and serves as the one-stop information and advocacy gateway for our industry. Bookmark and share the BPAP link.

If you are a professional, share the link with your employers. Let your  employers know the Philippines is number one  in the world for voice services, such as call centers and number two in the world for outsourcing of other more complex services.

If you are a domestic worker, mention to your boss and their guests, in fact,  everyone you meet… the Philippines is fast becoming number one in the world for outsourcing.

As an OFW you may ask… why bother selling the Philippines to the world? Of all people, you should already know the answer to that question.

The real answer to poverty in the Philippines is jobs…
so our people do not have to become OFWs in the first place.

Myrna’s Bio

Myrna grew up as the eldest daughter of a simple fisherman from a poor undeveloped fishing village in Loay, Bohol. At ten, she was diving alone in the sea for seaweed and seashells to help feed her family.

In order to break the cycle of poverty she was born to, like many other Filipinos, she sought meaningful employment overseas. As an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) for over 20 years, Myrna successfully accomplished her original objective to provide for a college education for her two daughters.

Below is Myrna’s critically acclaimed speech to 400 international executives at the 2011 International Outsourcing Summit. She spoke about her life as an OFW for over 20 years, her OFW Advocacy, the founding of her own Business Process Outsourcing company and the human side of outsourcing.
